Skills force Camping

Skills Force Over Night Camping

On the evening of Wednesday 21st June Year 5 arrived at Harmer Green Wood and were met by Mark and Colin from Skillforce along with Miss Azzopardi and Miss Sturmey.

The first challenge we faced was to put up our tents.  We worked with partners and managed the task quickly and efficiently. After having a team talk we were divided into groups and were asked to collect wood for the fire. It was exciting exploring the area around us.  Eventually we had collected enough wood for Mark to start the campfire.  We all enjoyed toasting marshmallows, singing songs and playing games and we were very pleased that Mrs Tothill had come to join us for the evening’s entertainment.  After a good night’s sleep we awoke early, eager to begin our day.  We enjoyed a hearty breakfast before working in teams to take our tents down.  This required us to listen to one another and work together.  By midmorning we were packed up and were pleased to greet another visitor, Mrs Reed.  We headed to an area large enough for us to play rounders’ which built up our appetites.  Mark and Colin made us all hotdogs which were really delicious.  Shortly after, we were collected by our parents.  We all had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed our camping experience.

I liked eating the roasted marshmallows and singing round the fire. We worked very well together when we put up the tents.

It was lovely to see Year 5 work well as a team and how they all cooperated when faced with a challenge.
