Maths Competition

Maths Competition 2017

Four year 6 children went to a maths competition at Sherradswood School recently the following is their description of their afternoon.  As you can tell they really enjoyed themselves and we are all very proud of their efforts.

The experience of the competition was very enjoyable.  We learnt about function boxes and how to show calculations algebraically.  The challenges were incredibly hard but fun.

First we got put into groups.  We warmed up our brains by playing a bit of sudoko.  Then we looked at functions.  It was very confusing at first but once the teacher made a few examples it all started fitting together.  Then we had a go ourselves.

After that there were challenges.  Apparently it was “year 11 easy maths”, there were four questons for each challenge.  The first person to complete all of them was the winner.

Overall it was an amazing experience.  Think everyone would want to go again.
