Year 4 Welcome the River Beane and Mimram Restoration Committee!
1 July 2025

Year 4 had an exciting and educational visit from the River Beane and Mimram Restoration Committee. The session began with an engaging introduction to our two local rivers, highlighting the vital role rivers play in supporting the environment.

The pupils showed great curiosity and enthusiasm during a lively question-and-answer session, deepening their understanding of river ecosystems.

Next, the children took part in a hands-on activity, exploring live river creatures collected from the River Mimram. They identified, classified, and tallied various species, using microscopes and magnifying glasses to get a closer look.

The visitors were thoroughly impressed by the pupils’ existing knowledge of rivers in the UK and around the world. Year 4 had a fantastic time and left with a richer appreciation of local ecosystems — a truly memorable experience!
