Mrs Girdlestone’s Garden

Mrs Girdlestone’s Garden
5 November 2026

This week, we were proud to officially unveil Mrs Girdlestone’s Garden, a special space created in memory of a much-loved member of our Waterside family.

The garden will be open for children to enjoy from next week as a peaceful, quiet space during breaktimes, providing somewhere to relax, reflect and spend time with friends.

A special thank you to Mrs Girdlestone’s family for joining us for the unveiling on what would have been her birthday. It was lovely to share this special moment with them and show them the wonderful space that has been created in her memory.

It was also wonderful to welcome back Mrs Foyle, who was a close friend and colleague of Mrs Girdlestone for many years. Thank you also to our governors and Rebecca Daulman, CEO of Agora Learning Partnership, for joining us on this special occasion.

We are incredibly grateful to Jeff at Nisa Local Haldens, who generously donated £1,000 towards the project, and to our School Council, who helped decide how the money could be used to create a fitting tribute.

A huge thank you also goes to all the staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to bring this lovely space to life.

Seeing so many people come together was a touching reminder of the lasting impact Mrs Girdlestone had on so many colleagues, families and children over the years.

We hope the garden will be enjoyed by generations of Waterside children and serve as a lasting reminder of Mrs Girdlestone
